What does GHS stand for?

We like to say GHS stands for Good, Honest Service - because our staff of representatives is always ready to answer your questions. Our own customers agree. In a recent survey, our customers told us that we were quick, knowledgeable, accurate and professional. In fact, we are so proud of the results of this survey that we have included them in our latest newsletter.

Actually, GHS was derived from our parent company's corporate name, Group Health Service. Group Health Service of Oklahoma, Inc. merged in November 2005 with Health Care Service Corporation, a Mutual Legal Reserve Company.

Although we are a subsidiary of Health Care Service Corporation, we have our own board of directors and management, as well as separate marketing, sales, underwriting and claims departments. So in addition to having the financial stability and longevity of Health Care Service Corporation on their side, our customers also have the confidence of knowing their policy is being serviced by an experienced property and casualty staff.

What products do you offer?

At GHS Property and Casualty, we offer a wide range of individual, affinity and work site insurance products with very competitive rates. For example, through the GHS Auto Insurance Program, good drivers can save up to $300 or more on their yearly auto insurance premium. And some customers are able to increase the amount of coverage they carry for the same or lower premium than they were paying before switching to GHS.

We also offer great rates on insurance for homeowners, condominium owners and renters. Plus, we offer a variety of optional coverages to meet your more specific needs. And when you insure both your home and auto with GHS, you receive even more savings with our multi-policy discount.

Are you financially stable to handle a catastrophe?

By law, insurance companies must set aside money in reserves to pay for unexpected large losses. Like all responsible insurers, we adhere to the financial guidelines mandated by the insurance commission of each state in which we are licensed.

In addition, GHS carries reinsurance. Insurance companies buy reinsurance to protect themselves from the risk of catastrophic losses. Simply put, GHS gives part of its premiums to the reinsurance company with the agreement that the reinsurer will assume part of the risk. This means you can be confident that we are financially capable of covering your losses.

Why should I switch to GHS?

There are many reasons to come to GHS for your insurance needs. Many of our customers come to us for our lower rates. At GHS, we believe responsible drivers should be rewarded with lower insurance premiums. After all, why should you pay for the negligence of others?

How can GHS save me so much money?

The concept behind insurance is to spread financial risk among large numbers of people. In essence, insurance allows the losses incurred by a small group of customers who file claims to be shared by the entire customer base. At GHS, our philosophy is that responsible drivers do not deserve to pay for the claims of more negligent drivers. Because GHS customers tend to have better loss histories (meaning they make fewer claims and get fewer driving citations) they receive lower rates.
