GHS Gets High Ratings in Customer Survey

We all know how good it feels to receive a compliment. Imagine getting a stack of them. The staff at GHS Property & Casualty has been savoring that feeling since the company completed its customer satisfaction survey.

GHS included the survey questionnaires in new policyholders' introductory materials to evaluate the company's marketing and customer service departments. They were questioned on their insurance shopping habits, reasons for choosing GHS, satisfaction with customer service and overall impressions of the company.

The second phase of this survey will be conducted by phone. GHS will contact a balanced sample of new and longtime policyholders to gather their perceptions of GHS and its customer service. The results will be used by GHS to fine-tune its service and enhance the company's image to future customers.

Staying Safe on Winter Roads

Any experienced driver knows how unpredictable driving conditions can become. A sunny day can be overtaken quickly by snow and ice. Fog and rain tend to arrive without warning.

All of these factors create an unsafe environment for driving during the winter months. The following are some tips to help keep you and your family safe when traveling.

Visibility

Loss of visibility is one of two main factors that make winter driving more difficult than summer driving. Rain, snow, fog and ice can obscure vision. To minimize the effects:

  • Keep the windshield and windows clear. Continually maintain defrosters and windshield wipers. Keep a handheld ice scraper in your car at all times in case you have to park outdoors.
  • Don't overdrive your visibility. That means you must be able to stop before you hit an object that suddenly appears in your path. Slow down, be observant and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Slick Roads

A slick road can cause a driver to completely lose control of his or her car. Extra care is extremely important to avoid danger.
  • When driving on slick roads, everything must be done gently. Accelerate slowly. Brake gently. Turn gently. Sudden changes can cause the tires to lose their grip on the road.
  • Snow and ice make stopping distances much longer. Leave much more distance between your car and the vehicle ahead than usual. When approaching a planned stop, such as a stop sign, slow down far in advance to avoid heavy braking.
  • Slow down. Slow down. Slow down. A speed of 55-65 miles an hour may be safe in dry weather, but it is an invitation for trouble on snow and ice. Slower speeds give drivers more control over their cars and help minimize damage if an accident does occur.
